ABOUT
Tell us who you are!
My name is Rebecca, I am a 24 year old entrepreneur born and bred in London!
So what do you actually do?
I have 3 businesses which all revolve around fashion. I'm a fashion designer, I have a media company which supports start-up designers and the third business was recently co-founded where we provide group coaching services.
What has your career path been?
My career path has seen many ups and downs! I mentioned mental toughness before because I am someone who naturally doesn't have it and at times, low points in business became a reflection of my self worth which has numerously led to depression and anxiety (which I still battle with now). But it's great to look back and realise I gained my excellent customer experience all from my first job in McDonald's making £4.35 an hour at 17/18. I then worked part time jobs when I created my brand until my impulsiveness got to me and I quit so I could run my brand full time (don't do this!).
I eventually came to my senses and was extremely lucky to get a job in luxury fashion working in production which completely opened up my eyes to the business side of fashion from a very reputable brand. I had a good experience there and I worked till December 2019 before going full time again with my brand.
It's been a crazy year and if anything it's taught me that I'm creative and I can make lemon out of lemonade. The biggest battles have usually been financial but upon reflection they never had to be. It was always down to low self belief that would paralyse me and stop me from getting to the bag. Then I'd snap out of it last minute and make a crazy amount of money.
So prepare yourself for this, grow your mental toughness and believe in yourself!!
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is being able to serve people by simplifying the business of fashion and helping them either launch or make progress with their existing brands.
I also enjoy hosting events whether digitally or offline. Prior to COVID-19 I would've thought they'd all be in person but digital events have extremely high profit margins, they're something I will continue doing whilst challenging myself to create memorable in real life experiences.
What inspired you to do your job?
With my media company, The Entry Platform, I initially started it when COVID-19 started- as an extra source of income incase my fashion brand had to be put on pause. It then became my main business and I spent 2020 doing a lot of things (writing a book, creating digital and physical products, hosting events etc) which helped me narrow down exactly what I wanted to create moving forward. Upon reflection, it was very simple.
I am creating a platform I wish I had when I started out in the industry - a platform and community which eliminates confusion, loneliness, as much stress as possible and overwhelm.
One piece of advice for someone starting in your role?
Grow mental toughness! Any career path is difficult but there is added pressure when it comes to entrepreneurship. You've got to figure out how to manage your doubts and failures so you can keep moving forward despite the (inevitable) obstacles thrown your way.

DAY IN THE LIFE
6am - 7am: I wake up and think for a few minutes. I like silence in the morning and have recently had to tell my boyfriend not to speak to me unless it's urgent haha.
7am: Jump in the shower straight away and get ready for work. I used to have a morning routine but I realised it gave me too much time in the morning to allow my thoughts to affect the rest of the day. It's best I push myself first thing!
7:45am: I get in my car and drive to my office which is 30 minutes away. I live in London but my office is in Kent which helps me save loads of money with rent.
8:15 - 9am: I get started with admin i.e. emails. I honestly dislike emails (or texting) so I just like to get it out of the way. Plus, I can tick it off and feel good despite the fact it's a very a low menial task haha.
9am - 12pm: I put my head down and get to work! I'm most productive in the morning so I do my 'harder' or more time consuming tasks. This could be content creating, strategising, creating presentations, researching etc.
12pm - 1.30pm: I have my lunch and ship orders. Going to drop off the parcels gives me the chance to get some fresh air. I am also trying to get more steps in so it's a bonus. I usually eat home cooked food (Ravioli to be exact) whilst watching YouTube, business vlogs or some cheeky RHOA.
1.30pm - 3pm: I do my last bit of work in the office which is a bit lighter because after lunch I can be a little tired, but the walks do help pick me up.
3pm: I go home to avoid rush hour. I don't work well in the afternoons at all which I'm happy I've noticed because I used to beat myself up about it. However, I chose a career that gives me some sort of flexibility so I might as well take advantage of that.
3.30pm to 6pm: I chill out! Unless I have something like a podcast interview or a meeting, I spend this time doing whatever I want. This is usually reading, Netflix or playing Sims 4.
6pm to 7pm: I have my dinner and watch something.
7pm till late: I take the afternoons off because 9/10 I will work in the evening till late. Like the mornings, I work well in the evening too. I absolutely love my work so it doesn't bother me. I'll basically catch up on work and do more of the 'hard stuff'. Sometimes I'm hosting events on Zoom or teaching my coaching students around this time too.
If I'm not working till late then I'm probably chilling with my boyfriend watching movies. Now that outside is open, we'll definitely be spending a lot of time at the local bars!
