ABOUT
So what do you actually do?
I get to create pretty fun and cool media assets using photography, motion graphics and graphic design.
What has your career path been?
I have only just finished university and to top that we are in a global pandemic so finding a job has been quite long, so working for myself as a freelancer has been my first job role.
Right now I am working remotely, creating media assets for an advertising strategy company + a TV host’s personal Instagram page, alongside a team.
What is the best part of your job?
Having people trust my crazy brain to create fun and imaginative projects for them. I’m quite experimental so this works well for me.
Why do you do your job?
It’s crazy because I studied Computer Science so the inspiration really came from creating fun projects with my friends, during uni. I knew I wanted to do something I’m good at and enjoy for the rest of my working life.
One piece of advice for someone starting in your role?
Don’t shy away from a challenge. Sometimes you may be told an idea that you think is too crazy for you to achieve but chase it, tame it, and make it yours! You’re the captain.

DAY IN THE LIFE
Morning
I am a bit of a social media addict so when I wake up in the morning, I jump on Twitter to see what’s up with the world and what happened while I was asleep. It’s my newspaper ahaha.
After that, I get up from the bed and start to freshen and get ready for my day. I don’t eat that much so I usually will have a bowl of Weetos or Weetabix.
I’ll then go back to my office (bed and laptop) and check through my emails for any new tasks I’ve been set for current projects, or if any potential clients have reached out for my services (because a brother gotta eat in this pandemic).
As much as I believe my brain is creative, I still have to get inspiration from places so I will usually spend an hour or so browsing through Pinterest, Instagram and Behance for visually compelling content to stimulate the right hemisphere of my brain.
Afternoon
I will usually spend my afternoon creating motion graphics animations in Adobe After Effects or create some fun photoshopped images for my client’s Instagram page. It’s especially fun to work with him as he’s quite open to quirky ideas, but sometimes it can be a challenge since he’s based in America and that time zone difference is fat.
With the strategy company, I am usually on call so whenever they need a piece of graphics work created I have to put what I am doing on pause, and quickly get the asset(s) done for them on time.
When I do get some free time, I enjoy taking on creating YouTube intros for individual clients as it challenges me to learn new skills and techniques each time.
To end the day I go through a checklist to see if I have done everything needed for the day (because I’m dopey as hell sometimes) and send off all my projects.
