ABOUT
So what do you actually do?
I bring my own and other peoples ideas to life through art.
Lyme Studios is a London based production company / creative agency focused on creating content for brands online.
What has your career path been?
I’m still at the very beginning of my career but it started off during university, where I worked an internship during the 3 years of my degree at a creative agency.
I learned a lot there about the industry and how to work with clients, and this was my first real experience of working on big scale projects with a team for a variety of different clients.
After I graduated I started my own agency / production company and have been running that along with my brother for just over a year, which has taught me an immense amount not only creatively but also on how to run a company.
We’ve been blessed enough to work with some very big brands and industry leaders. We’re currently working on many other arms to the company which i’m excited about.
What is the best part of your job?
Being able to work with amazing brands and people to create different forms of content. Ultimately, it’s something I did as a hobby before even turning it into a career, so it never feels like work.
Why do you do your job?
I never really saw it as a job as when I first started, it was a hobby at first. After learning about the industry and listening to the stories of other successful creatives, I knew it was something that was possible.
One piece of advice for someone starting in your role?
I’d say never box yourself in just because you specialise in one trade. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Most creative skills have similarities so learning more than one will only make you better at what you do overall.
Also, actively recreate the things you’re inspired by, so if you see a piece of content online that you are impressed by, even if it seems out of your skillset, try to dissect it and recreate it. Doing this regularly will help you to get better at what you do.

DAY IN THE LIFE
Each day is very different but these are the main things I usually get up to during the week…
Meeting clients, discussing ideas, and figuring out how we can plan to create content for their brand depending on their identity, ideas etc.
Once we know enough about the client and what they need it’s our job to plan out how we’re going to create the content for them. This includes storyboards, brainstorming, research, location recce and much more and once we have enough planned, we can liaise with the client to finalise the plan before going into production.
On some days we may not be out on shoots, especially during the lockdown, so currently most of the work is design based which can be done remotely.
At the current moment we are spending a lot of time on the new arms of the company which isn’t focused around creating content for clients. We are currently doing regular clothing drops so on certain days I will be focusing on that and designing the next drop and this takes up quite a bit of time because we design each clothing drop from scratch.
We then work out logistics with the manufacturers to bring the designs to life. Where most companies probably would, we don’t get our clothing made overseas, and we’re big on producing everything in London.
Although it might be more costly and more difficult to do, it’s what we’ve built the brand on so it’s more than worth it for us. When all the logistics are completed we work on a roll out to promote the drop.
